hair style: splurge or save?

I have long black brown (as a certain hair stylist calls it) layer styled hair and I only authorize a preferred salon in the city whenever I feel it's necessary for me to get my hair done. I'm not much particular with trendy styles as long as my hair is manageable and will stay in place.

How about you? How often do you pamper your hair? Would you splurge or save when it comes to hairstyles? Long, short... which one do you prefer?
