MTV, Jeepney Music and DOT presents MTV Emerge
It's already about an hour after watching the live feed of Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao's fight and I am still in exaltation. What a sweet victory it was for the people's champ!
It is true enough that Filipinos are becoming competitive not only on sports events but to the music industry as well. The recently launched MTV Emerge - the search for Filipino talents is now the latest sensation on the television music scene.
The MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration made this project possible. Through this platform unsigned music talent in the Philippines are given the chance to showcase their work. The contest is open for participants from all music genres such as indie, rock, hip-hop, R&B, metal, solo artists and DJs. Confirmed entries will go through public voting process and a total of seven (7) grand winners will be selected from the top entries on November 20, 2009. Founder of Jeepney Music and famous half Filipino, Multi-Platinum Grammy award winner and Black Eyes Peas member, Apl.de.Ap will be gracing the event and will be one of the selecting judges.
Grand prices at stake are a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music and mentorship under Apl.de.Ap. It includes of artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3-6 songs and strategic marketing plan for the signed artist to break into both the Philippines and international markets. Aren't that awesome?
I have personally voted for EyeScream band. They simply got what it takes to be at the top seven - voice quality and performance wise plus the urge to entertain the viewers.
